Wow, good conversation. I have to say that Brendan's point about desire nearly runs contrary to the Buddhist notion of it. Not to say that yours is wrong. And Eric, keep in mind that many who believe in God do not always say that it is a 'benevolent' God that they embrace. But it is a sort of teacher God. Think of the Book of Jobe from the Bible. |
